Zax Sauce
The house sauce the rest of the menu was built around. Creamy and peppered, and included with the Fingerz meals as standard.
Twelve signature sauces, four dressings and three dry rubs, with the calorie count on each. Extra cups cost about $0.35, and the first one is included with your meal.
Sauce is what Zaxby’s built its identity on, and Zax Sauce is the reason. A creamy peppered house sauce that ships with the Fingerz meals as standard, carries 150 calories in a 2 ounce cup, and sells in a 16 ounce bottle for about $5.99 for people who want it at home. Everything else on this page orbits that one item.
Twelve signature sauces run from no heat to real heat. Wimpy sits at the bottom at 50 calories, buttery with vinegar and paprika. Tongue Torch is the medium and the sauce used on the Kickin’ Chicken Sandwich, at just 20 calories. Nuclear is the hottest of the vinegar based sauces at 30 calories. The creamy sauces cost you more calories than the hot ones: Hot Honey Mustard tops the list at 200, against 20 for Tongue Torch.
That inversion is the useful thing on this page. Heat and calories run in opposite directions at Zaxby’s, because the hot sauces are vinegar based and the mild ones are mayonnaise or honey based. Anyone counting calories on a wings order should be looking at Tongue Torch or Nuclear rather than ranch. The full picture sits in the table below.
Calorie figures are for a standard 2 ounce dip cup. Sauces are included with the relevant meals, and these prices are for extra cups.

Wimpy is the mildest, a buttery vinegar and paprika base with almost no burn. Tongue Torch is the medium and the most widely ordered of the heat sauces. Nuclear tops the standard vinegar ladder and is not a novelty item. Buffalo Garlic Blaze runs alongside them with pronounced garlic and moderate to high heat.
Outside that ladder sit the sweet and creamy options. Zax Sauce and Spicy Zax Sauce cover the house flavour with and without warmth. Ranch, honey mustard, hot honey mustard, BBQ, teriyaki and sweet and spicy fill in the rest, and none of them carry meaningful heat except the hot honey mustard.
Insane sauce, which older menus and many aggregator sites still list, was removed in early 2022. Marinara is likewise absent from the current nutrition guide. Neither appears on this page because neither is currently sold.
The three hottest sauces are also the three lightest. Tongue Torch is 20 calories, Nuclear is 30 and Wimpy is 50. Compare that to Hot Honey Mustard at 200, Blue Cheese dressing at 200, Zax Sauce at 150 and ranch at 150.
On a ten piece boneless wings order at 1030 calories, choosing Tongue Torch over ranch saves 130 calories at no cost and no loss of flavour. On a Zalad, ordering the dressing on the side and using half of it saves 60 to 100 more. Those are the two easiest reductions available anywhere on the Zaxby’s menu.
The 16 ounce Zax Sauce bottle carries 1920 calories across the whole bottle, which works out to the same 150 per 2 ounce serving. Restaurants limit it to ten bottles per order.
Three dry rubs joined the permanent menu in early 2026: Lemon Pepper with zesty lemon and cracked black pepper, Garlic Parmesan with garlic, herbs and aged parmesan, and Nashville Hot with cayenne heat balanced by brown sugar and honey.
A rub replaces a wet sauce rather than adding to one, and it keeps breading crisp on the way home in a way a tossed sauce cannot. Extra rub costs about $0.39 against $0.35 for a sauce cup. Zaxby’s does not publish a per serving calorie figure for the rubs in a form that maps cleanly onto a single order, so those rows are left blank rather than filled with a number we cannot stand behind.

It is a creamy, tangy house sauce with black pepper through it, built on a mayonnaise and ketchup style base. It carries 150 calories in a 2 ounce cup and contains egg, wheat and soy.
It comes with the Chicken Fingerz meals as standard, and a 16 ounce bottle sells for about $5.99.
Nuclear is the hottest of the standard vinegar based wing sauces, sitting above Tongue Torch on the scale.
Nashville Hot as a dry rub and Buffalo Garlic Blaze both carry real heat as well, with the rub balanced by brown sugar and honey.
About $0.35 for an extra 2 ounce cup of sauce or dressing, and about $0.39 for extra dry rub. An 8 ounce portion runs around $1.99.
The sauce that comes with your meal is included in the meal price.

Yes. A 16 ounce bottle costs about $5.99 and restaurants limit it to ten bottles per order.
The bottle carries 1920 calories in total, the same 150 per 2 ounce serving as the dip cup.
No. Insane sauce was removed from the menu in early 2022 and has only reappeared as a one day promotion in a small number of cities since.
Aggregator sites listing it are working from a menu that is several years out of date.
Wings are tossed in the sauce you choose and served with a cup of ranch on the side. That ranch carries about 150 calories.
Asking for the wing sauce on the side instead of tossed costs nothing and keeps the coating crisp.
