The House Zalad (Fried)
Greens, Cheddar Jack, cucumber, tomato and fried onions under breaded chicken, with Texas toast alongside.
Four salads, each built more than one way. Prices run from $6.29 to $10.29, and the lightest lands at 410 calories before dressing.
Zaxby’s spells salads with a Z and builds four of them: The House Zalad, The Cobb Zalad, the Blue Zalad and the Asian Zensation Zalad. Each one takes fried chicken, grilled chicken or no chicken at all, and the protein choice moves the calorie count by roughly 100 to 250 without touching the price on most builds. Prices run from $6.29 for the Garden Cobb up to $10.29 for the Asian Zensation.
This is the lightest corner of the Zaxby’s menu by a wide margin. The Blue Zalad with grilled chicken carries 510 calories, and the House Zalad garden build sits at 410. Compare that against 960 for the lightest meal in the meals section and the difference is roughly a second lunch. Every Zalad except the Asian Zensation comes with Texas toast, which adds to the plate but keeps it a proper meal.
The Asian Zensation Zalad is the odd one out in three ways. It costs the most at $10.29, it swaps the Texas toast for a veggie egg roll, and it carries wonton strips and Asian slaw with a teriyaki drizzle rather than the cheese and fried onion build the others share. Its grilled version at 530 calories is the second lightest chicken salad on the board.
Sorted cheapest first. Calorie figures exclude the dressing, which adds between 120 and 200 on its own.

The switch from fried to grilled costs nothing and saves real calories on every salad here. House Zalad drops from 660 to 560. Cobb drops from 780 to 680. Blue Zalad falls furthest, from 680 down to 510, a 170 calorie difference on an identical price of $9.49.
Dressing is the second lever and the one people forget. Blue cheese dressing carries 200 calories in a standard portion, and ranch carries about 150. Ordering the dressing on the side and using half of it takes another 75 to 100 calories off a plate that already looks light. The full dressing list sits on the sauces and dressings page.
Two Zalads come in a garden version with no chicken at all. The Garden Cobb is $6.29 and 530 calories, keeping the bacon and hard boiled egg. The Garden House Zalad is $7.29 and 410 calories with cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and fried onions.
The Garden Cobb being cheaper than the Garden House Zalad by a dollar looks like a pricing quirk, and it is the better plate of the two: more protein from the egg and bacon, more substance, less money. It is also the cheapest way to eat a full salad at Zaxby’s.
The Cobb is the one to order when the salad is the whole meal. Bacon, hard boiled egg, cheese and chicken put it at 680 to 780 calories with real protein behind the number, and Texas toast comes with it. It costs $9.79 with chicken.
The Blue Zalad is the flavour pick. Blue cheese crumbles, blue cheese dressing and, on the fried version, a drizzle of Buffalo Garlic Blaze. That combination is closer to a wings plate than a salad in character, which is the point of it.
The Asian Zensation is the lightest full build worth ordering, at 530 calories grilled, and the veggie egg roll on the side makes it feel less like a compromise than most fast food salads manage.

Between $6.29 and $10.29. The Garden Cobb is the cheapest at $6.29 and the Asian Zensation Zalad is the most expensive at $10.29.
Fried and grilled versions of the same Zalad cost the same, so the protein choice is free.
The Garden House Zalad at 410 calories, with no chicken. Among the builds with chicken, the Blue Zalad grilled is lowest at 510.
Dressing is not included in those figures and adds 120 to 200 calories on top.
Mixed greens with carrots, red cabbage, wonton strips and Asian slaw, drizzled with teriyaki and served with citrus vinaigrette. Fried or grilled chicken, $10.29 either way.
It is the only Zalad served with a veggie egg roll instead of Texas toast.
Yes. The House Zalad and the Cobb Zalad both come in a garden version with no chicken, at $7.29 and $6.29 respectively.
The Garden Cobb keeps the bacon and hard boiled egg, so it is not a vegetarian plate. Anyone avoiding meat should order the Garden House Zalad.
They cost the same, so it comes down to calories. Grilled saves between 100 and 170 calories depending on the salad, with the Blue Zalad showing the biggest gap.
Fried chicken on a salad still lands far below any meal in the meals section.
Ranch at about 120 calories, blue cheese at 200, and a honey mustard lite vinaigrette at 130. The Asian Zensation comes with citrus vinaigrette as standard.
The Blue Zalad is served with blue cheese dressing by default, since the salad is built around it.
Three of the four come with Texas toast. The Asian Zensation Zalad comes with a veggie egg roll instead.
A slice of Texas toast carries about 150 calories, so a Zalad ordered without it lands lower than the published figure.
